Seller: Top-Rated Seller likelikinrocks (2,048) 100%, Location: Davoren Park, SA, Ships to: AU, Item: 192707460342 Antique Boxed “Universal Household Microscope” - James W Queen – Philadelphia - 1885 On offer is an antique boxed microscope made by the James W. Queen company in Philadelphia USA sometime around 1885. It comes with a second object lens as well as a broken “prepared object” slide and several small squares of what appear to be mica. I guessing they were used to make prepared object slides. This I believe is model 3064 of their Universal series of microscopes. Condition All the gold coloured plating on the tube assembly is gone and it is now down to shiny brass. Anything that is iron such as screws and the slide clamps are starting to show rust so attention will be needed as some future time. The mirror as a frosty spot in the center. There is a ledge inside at the top of the box that is loose on one side. It is missing the brass tweezers. The prepared sample is broken and I can't guarantee it is the one originating with the unit. Please see the photos for all conditions Makers/Hall Marks – “Universal Household Microscope - James W Queen & Co Philadelphia” Cast on the foot.
